God and Money

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." (Matthew 6:24)

In the New international Version, I found it quite interesting that Matthew 6:24 both the word money is capitalized. I looked up this passage under several other translations, finding that this word was either not capitalized or was not used (such as the Kings James Translation). I believe it is used in this manner to emphasis the fact that money can or is a "god." Something that people worship, that they put at the highest priority in their life where God should be. In another sense throughout the Bible other false idols were referred to as "god" or "gods." I can see how it could be capitalized, however it is not the one and only God.

Anyone have any thoughts why it is capitalized, or why it shouldn't be? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

God bless.
